The strategy combining the Relative Strength Index (RSI), Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), and trading volume analysis is one of the most balanced systems. It allows a trader not just to follow the price, but to understand the internal structure of market moves, filtering out market noise and focusing on high-probability setups.

Momentum Strength and RSI Dynamics

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) acts in this strategy as a leading oscillator that measures the rate of price change. The main task of the RSI is to identify overbought and oversold states. When the indicator value exceeds 70, the market is considered overheated, signaling a potential halt in growth or the start of a correction. A value below 30 indicates seller exhaustion. However, in this combined strategy, we do not use these zones as a direct trade trigger. Instead, we look for the moment the RSI line exits the extreme zone, confirming a shift in short-term priority. Divergences are of particular value: if the price sets a new local high but the RSI chart does not, this becomes a serious warning of weakness in the current uptrend.

Trend Confirmation via MACD

While the RSI provides insight into momentum, the MACD serves as a filter to determine the direction and strength of the underlying trend. This indicator is more lagging, which is an advantage as it smooths out random fluctuations. Within this strategy, the key signals are the crossover of the main and signal lines, as well as the position of the histogram relative to the zero line. An ideal long signal forms when the MACD lines cross in the lower part of the chart and begin moving upward, while the histogram bars flip into the positive zone. This confirms that initiative is shifting to the buyers. Using MACD in conjunction with RSI helps avoid entering counter-trend positions during strong impulses, where an oscillator might remain in the overbought zone for an extended period while the trend continues to develop.

Volume as a Trade Filter

Trading volume is the only metric that reflects actual financial flows in the market. Without volume confirmation, any price movement, even if backed by multiple indicators, could turn out to be a fakeout or market manipulation. In our strategy, vertical volume acts as the ultimate confirmation factor. We look for a surge in activity at the moment the RSI and MACD signals form. If the price breaks a level or reverses on increased volume, it indicates the entry of institutional players. If technical indicators fire a signal but volume remains low or is declining, it is better to skip the trade, as the movement lacks the fuel for further development. Volume is what allows us to distinguish a genuine reversal from a short-term dead cat bounce.

Trading Signal Algorithm

To open a long position, you must wait for three factors to align. First, the RSI must touch the oversold zone (30) and begin to curl upward. Following this, the MACD must show a bullish crossover below the zero line. The final condition is the closure of the signal candle on volume that exceeds the average for the last 10-20 periods.
