. Unlike primary accumulation, which occurs at a market bottom following a prolonged bear cycle, reaccumulation emerges within an existing uptrend. It is a strategic pause during which the composite operator—large institutional players—absorbs supply from those taking profits to prepare the asset for the next powerful leg up.

The Nature of the Reaccumulation Zone

The essence of the process lies in creating an artificial supply shortage. When an asset shows significant growth, some investors begin closing positions, fearing a deep correction. This creates a temporary market supply surplus that halts growth and forces the price into a sideways range. For “smart money,” this is the ideal moment: instead of driving the price higher and buying at unfavorable quotes, they hold the price within a range, gradually picking up all sell orders. Reaccumulation confirms the strength of the current bull trend and serves as fuel for its further development, turning resistance into reliable support.

Phase A: Stopping the Previous Impulse

The first stage is characterized by a slowdown in the previous growth momentum. A Preliminary Supply and Buying Climax appear, followed by an Automatic Reaction downward. This retracement forms the boundaries of the trading range. It is important to understand that volatility usually remains high in this phase as the market is still reacting emotionally to previous dynamics. The analyst’s task at this stage is to clearly identify the channel boundaries where the main positional struggle between buyers and sellers will occur, and not to take hasty actions before the market maker’s intentions become clear.

Phase B: Absorbing Market Supply

This is the longest and most exhausting part of the pattern. Here, the “cause” for future movement is formed according to Wyckoff’s Law of Cause and Effect. The price makes chaotic fluctuations within the range, gradually narrowing in amplitude. The main sign of strength in this phase is a gradual decrease in volume on selling waves and local spikes during growth attempts. Institutions use this period to fully absorb liquidity. Phase B often sees Upthrusts—false breakouts of the upper boundary—which serve to test for the presence of sellers. If the price does not fall aggressively after such tests, it is a clear sign that demand is in full control of the situation.

Phase C: Final Liquidity Testing

A critical moment that determines the success of a future trade. Phase C often involves a Spring or an LPS (Last Point of Support). A Spring is a false breakout of the lower boundary of the range, designed to trigger retail trader stop-losses and activate sell stops. This allows large players to fill their positions at the most favorable prices before the start. The most important analytical signal is a quick return of the price inside the range on increasing volume. If the breakout of the lower boundary occurs sluggishly, without significant renewed selling, it means that market supply is completely exhausted and the asset is ready for an active growth phase.

Phase D and E: Trend Realization

In Phase D, the price begins to move purposefully toward the upper boundary of the range. Here, we observe clear Signs of Strength (SOS).
